Just close your eyes and imagine monasteries perched on mountain edge against a backdrop of blue sky. Spiti is not just a figment of your imagination. Sparsely populated, Spiti offers you warmth even though it is mostly surrounded by barren desert. Pristine lakes to widen your horizon and enormous trekking opportunities to quench your soul. It definitely calls for a week long long drive and in return, you get postcard perfect memories.

After your arrival in Manali, you will be checked-in at your accommodation. This day is to get used to the altitude and to help you acclimatize. You can go for a walk through Old Manali, enjoy shopping, chill at the cafes and get ready for the adventure ahead.
You will be driven from Manali to Kaza via Rohtang Pass and KunzumLa. On the way, enjoy panoramic views of majestic mountains. You will arrive at Spiti by evening. Check-in at the accommodation and relax well to ensure that the next morning you are refreshed.
After breakfast, you will proceed for a full day trip from Kaza to Key Monastery and Kibber. Situated very close to the Spiti River, Key Monastery is home to almost 300 lamas. Catch a glimpse of the bed of the Dalai Lama while you are here.
Up next is Kibber, Spiti’s highest inhabited village. You will be mesmerised by the white houses with bright red rooftops. Soak in as much of the lush greens around before you head back to Kaza for a good night’s sleep.
After breakfast, you will begin your journey towards Giu village to see the Mummy Monk. You will drive back to Tabo village home to the older monastery and meditation caves in the valley.
You will proceed to Dhankar. After taking the monastery tour, you may choose to hike to Dhankar lake. A modest 1 hour hike will take you to the lake.
After breakfast, you will head for Lanza Village. You will visit Komic, Himalaya’s highest inhabited village. With a little over a dozen households, expect to be greeted with cups of hot tea from the lovely families who live here. Sitting pretty at 4587 metres above mean sea level, Komic offers stunning vistas from its ancient monastery as well. You will also visit Hikkim.
Revered by one and all, Chandrataal is as surreal as it can get. You will enjoy some tricky roads on the way to the ‘moon lake’. It is believed that Yudhisthira (eldest Pandava from the Mahabharata) was taken to heaven from here. Ensure you interact with the locals to catch some more lores and fascinating stories.
After lunch, you will be driven back to Manali. Rest of the day at leisure for you to explore Manali and bid adieu.
